Summary
The Detroit Free Press Restaurant of the year.. it was just ok…The Kale Caesar was good ( purple kale…yes), with crispy chicken skin &lemon which was very good and crunchy. The Sweet Potato Ravioli with brown butter and sage, didn’t have much flavor..disappointing.The Lamb Ragu/Rigatoni with kalamata olives and leeks was fair. The Banoffee Tart-Dulce de leche, with blurred bananas, vanilla ice cream was fair, so I tried the Dark Chocolate Pot de Creme-honeyed creme fruit, and cartelized white chocolate was awful! They have a fun wine list& the bottle of Puydeval was excellent and relatively inexpensive. It was worth a gallop towards downtown Detroit, but not a restaurant I’ll go out of my way, to ride down to again. It was a bit…overrated.
Updated 5/9/2015..Given another chance this was excellent..well worth the gallop with 3 Rainbows appearing. The mushroom toasts was very tasty with house ricotta, ramps, greens, & aged balsamic.. The Vegetable Carpaccio was excellent, not expected with shaved veggies, caper, lemon and parmesan…)The charred octopus was tasty with fennel, citrus olive, & saffron. But theSmoked Lamb Ribs were amazing( Had to place a second order!) they were cooked in ramos, with preserved lemon & yogurt. Lastly there Death by Chocolate was amazing with Milk Chocolate Ice Cream, Chocolate Sorbet & Carmel. The second try was worth shooting a fourth bullet. Definitely will hitch the horse up again to dine.
