City Tap House

Summary

City Tap House in D.C., Known nationwide for their beers, many of which are exclusives, but their menu was put together by a James Beard award winning chef, & tasted like it. The Baba Ghanoush was tasty( dill-cucumber tzatziki, radish, sumac, laudemio olive oil, garlic flatbread) The seared scallops were excellent( butternut squash risotto, black kale(yes),pumpkin seeds, grand padding). The spice wings( dry rubbed) were some of the best that the LD has tasted on this journey. The mussels were good. The honey goat cheese pizza was flavorful with sliced red onion, pistachios, rosemary, & truffled honey! The crab mac & cheese was also good. the burger was flavorful, and their French Dip made with shaved ribeye, gruyere, bourbon mustard, porter au jus, country rye, & duck fat fries was tasty. The slow braised lamb”gravy” with ricotta and san marzano tomatoes was ok, as were the corn& crab hushpuppies. The steak was very good as well. The LD can see why this spot is a favorite for Senators & Lobbyists on Capital Hill. Plenty of choices, and in their mind no bad decisions. Well worth the stop.
