Summary
Ventured over to the newly remodeled/reopened/ with a new owner, Forest(Formely Forest Grill), in Birmingham, MI, with a couple of scouts on our monthly dining trail.Recently taken over by Samy Eid of, The Phoenicia, & past chef Nick Janutrol, this bistro offers Mediterranean-Influenced menu. The kale salad with wheat berry, apple, & parsley was very good. The scouts had the octopus( with fennel, preserved lemon, & shallot), & the Feta &Brussels Sprouts( shaved sprouts, bulgarian feta, & pine nuts). The LD had the Chestnut Taglioni, with lobster, sweet poet,& squid ink pasta, and this was not tasty at all, & the LD didn’t finish it, which is rare. However, I was told that the Branzino, with quinoa, pomegranate, & seeds was very good, and the Vongale pasta( with manilla clams, & garlic) was good as well. The biggest complaints, I heard from others that were there that evening was the portions were small…well, the deserts were good: The pot de creme with pears was tasty, as was the Baked Alaska… all in all a good meal with the LD’s pasta the disappointment. The LD fires up 3 Silver Bullets on this new restaurant adventure. it is better than it’s predecessor, and should enjoy success..& I’ll give it another shot in the future…..On to the next new adventure!
