Summary

Rode across town to Brian Ng’s( Food & Wine’s 2012 best new chef) new French Southeast Asian restaurant in Santa Monica. First of all the service was excellent…The LD ordered the Chino Valley Egg Custard with Sea Urchin Roe & Braised Mushrooms as an appetizer which was tasty & different. Fore the main course, I tried the Vietnamese Pot Au Feu with Short Rib Stew, Potatoes, Cabbage, Carrots, & Bone Marrow, and was served with sides sauces of Bird’s Eye Chili & Walnut Mustard as well as grilled bread for the Bone marrow. This was definitely the most unusual dishes the LD has tried on his trails across the globe this year, but was well worth it, as the flavors/dish were tasty. Lastly, I had the French Desert of Floating Islands, with the meringue/creme anglaise was floating like ” eggs in the snow” was the right choice to finish this meal with it’s light but not too filling textures. Another worthwhile journey across the roads of LA, and one the LD will not forget. The LoneDiner fires 4 Silver Bullets in the air for this new restaurant &
looks forward to see how they evolve.
