Summary
Chef Ryan Pollnow’s Spanish cuisine restaurant( pronounced-ahh-CHAY) with Basque influences, which also means, small plates, which isn’t a bad thing, since you have to try several items to fill up. It was a nice cab cruise down Market street to find this destination. The green olive flatbread was indeed flat in taste, but was one of the only items that was flavor less. The fried chicken with fennel & honey was very good, as was the salmon with yogurt & truffle honey. The Gambas al Ajillo( shrimp, garlic, & nora chili ) had a good kick to it. The Hamachi Crudo was another item missing a little zest, as was the seared octopus, that had too many potatoes smothered around it. The flan was fair. The s’more like, Cinnamon-Vanilla Arroz Con Leche with dark chocolate, caramel, & toasted meringue, was ok….All in all, they hit some high notes, then some low notes, so on average, Aaxte was okay.I don’t know that I’ll make it back on another journey, since there is just SO many great restaurants in this city to explore. The LD will fire up 3 Silver Bullets on this journey & will move on to the next experience in this town.
