Summary
Very cool space & well worth the traffic struggle to get to downtown LA. The space is in the former rectory( deconsecrated) of an old cathedral St.Vibiana. They brought over a glass of their Amuse Booze, which was different take on how chefs do Amuse Bouche. The Good Bishop drink that I ordered had an interesting taste, called The Good Bishop, it was made up of Barolo, Chianti, Tequila( yes..wine & tequila together),Amaro,Lemon,Cinnamon, & Allspice Tincture. The Shishitos made up of jalapeƱo peppers with bottarga, & crispy quinoa was disappointingly bland( they saw that I didn’t enjoy & took it off the bill) The Maryland Soft Shell Crab, with Lime pickle, spicy yogurt, and sprouted lentils was good. The Gnocchetti Sardi, with Maine Lobster, nettles, chanterelles, & tomato confit was excellent tasting…made the ride seem enjoyable now….) The Chocolate Carmel Bar with Bourbon Chocolate, smoked pecans, and banana foster ice cream was just ok…A great space, but touch & go with the food, some things great others a clunker..I’m sure Chef Fraser will have it humming, over the years the LD has enjoyed his food at Grace & BLD. On this occasion it gets # Silver Bullets, but will have to give it another ride in the future.
