Summary
Well known restaurant in the Mission district, was a bit disappointed on the long journey( walked a mile….). 14 course tasting menu included1) Preserved cucumber dip with flax cracker- ok 2) Porcini mushrooms on rye with bottarga & radish…very good 3)Padron peppers with feta & onion-ok 4) Spiced carrot dip with buttermilk-fair 5)Halibut with squash, barley & basil-fair 6) Beef tartare on toast with taunt sauce & dried beef- people rave about this, but thought it was just ok. 7) Dill brine pickles-fair8)King salmon with morels in a spinach-sorrel sauce-ok 9)Cauliflower and green beans with sumac yogurt- good 10) Lamb sausage with sunflower tahini and chili oil-ok 11)Smoked potatoes with black garlic- fair 12) Sprouted lent croquettes with kafir and coriander- fair 13) Stuffed dates with buckwheat, caraway, & bronxe fennel- ok 14) Farmers cheesecake with strawberries, whey caramel, and sesame was good finish. I was looking forward to this meal, and unfortunately, maybe because it was later in the evening, the staff/service wasn’t on top of their game, & the food was just ok. Everyone has an off night& this was probably one of those, but the LoneDiner is not in a hurry to experience this restaurant in the near future. He gives this 3 Silver Bullets, and on to the next!
