A great trip to Philadelphia,& stopped in at several of Chef Jose Garces’s restaurant. Chef is a James Beard Award Winner & has won Food Network’s Iron Chef Contest. Traveled there during restaurant week, so the LoneDiner didn’t get the full effect of all of his menu’s due those limitations….First stop was Chef’s new fast casual taco shop, Buena Onda, & the fried shrimp & Mahi Mahi Tacos were excellent…The lunch at Garces Trading Company included burrata, flat bread, & Chicken sandwich with some great tasty chips…)About 8 miles of walking through the city later…the LD was taken on a great walking tour of the ” City of Brotherly Love” & passed by our Liberty Bell, all part of the journey. Had dinner at Chef’s Flagship, Amada. The garlic shrimp was very good as we the red peppers with eggplant, Cipollini onions confit tomatoes on goat cheese toast.. The Coca De Costal de Tenera Flatbread with Beef Short Ribs, horseradish, and parmesan was excellent. The Nader-e-Hiji- Chicken breast with truffles& fried egg was very good. The Sangria was also top notch, but above all, every restaurant had great service!!!!! The LD fires up 4 Silver Bullets on this days long trail.
